In Their Words
"My grandfather's Seiko 5 had not run in years. I brought it in with low expectations. They sent a written report within two days explaining what was wrong and what the service would cost. The watch came back running and they included the rate chart — it was within about three seconds a day. I did not expect that level of detail."

"Sent my steel sports watch for case refinishing. I was nervous because I had heard stories about polishing shops that round off all the edges and make older pieces look fake. Horolume kept the brushed surfaces brushed and the polished flanks polished. They even photographed it before starting. The bracelet links were also tightened — I had not even asked for that."

"The vintage restoration took about nine weeks in total, which was longer than I hoped. But most of the delay was waiting for a specific crown from a parts supplier, which they kept me informed about throughout. The end result was worth the wait — the movement runs cleanly and they managed to find a period crystal. Turnaround was the one thing I would flag, but it comes with the territory on old pieces."

"I sent my dress watch from Penang by courier after contacting them first. They told me exactly how to pack it and what to write on the parcel. The intake receipt arrived by email the day they received it. The whole thing was straightforward and I never felt like my watch had disappeared into an unknown shop. Would use again."

"My father passed down a vintage automatic that had been sitting in a box. I wanted it in running order but was worried about someone doing a hack job on it. Rasyid explained the full scope upfront — what could be repaired, what might need sourcing, and what was realistically beyond restoration. That honesty was more reassuring than a quick 'no problem' would have been."

"Brought in a Tissot with a worn bezel insert and scratched case. The surface work was good — subtle hand polishing rather than a machine going over everything. The price was higher than I expected, but after seeing how long it took and what was included, I understood the cost better. Good communication throughout."

CASE STUDIES
Three Jobs in Detail
CASE 001 — MOVEMENT SERVICE
The Situation
An automatic piece from the early 1990s, worn daily for three years without service. Owner noticed it was losing around eight minutes per day and occasionally stopping overnight on the wrist.
What Was Done
Full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, inspection under magnification. Worn pallet fork jewel identified and replaced. New mainspring fitted. Re-lubricated with calibre-correct oils. 48-hour six-position regulation following reassembly.
Outcome
Rate brought within +4 seconds per day across all positions. Owner received regulation chart. Watch returned with 12-month coverage note. Total bench time: six working days.

CASE 002 — VINTAGE RESTORATION
The Situation
A mid-1960s dress watch inherited from an owner's father. Not worn in over twenty years. The movement was seized, the crystal cracked, and the winding crown felt loose. The dial was original and the owner was firm that it should not be touched.
What Was Done
Reference researched to identify the calibre and correct crystal dimensions. Full movement overhaul. Period-correct crown sourced from a specialist supplier in Japan — a six-week search. Original-style Plexiglas crystal fitted. Case cleaned but not polished. Dial untouched per owner's instructions.
Outcome
Watch running. Period aesthetic preserved. Bound file delivered with research notes, stage photographs, parts provenance and service record. Total programme: eleven weeks.

CASE 003 — CASE REFINISHING
The Situation
A steel diver worn as a daily watch for seven years. Heavy desk marks on the case sides, worn bracelet links, and a scuffed bezel. Owner was preparing the watch for sale and wanted it presentable without it looking obviously polished.
What Was Done
Raking-light photography before work began. Brushed grain re-cut along original direction on case flanks. Polished lugs restored in stages without blurring the case lines. Worn bracelet pins replaced, end links checked. Gasket renewed, water resistance tested at 3 bar.
Outcome
Case presentable without appearing over-polished. Case geometry preserved. Bracelet movement improved. Owner noted the before-and-after photographs were useful for the subsequent sale listing. Total bench time: four working days.
